Zimbabwe's U19 side will be well satisfied with preparations leading up to the world cup when they beat the Dubai academy by 136 runs in the third of four one day friendly matches at Old Hararians Sports Club on Tuesday, 5 June to take a 3-0 lead with one game to play.
Batting first, the home side would have been disappointed to have finished on 242 for the loss of nine wickets from their allotted 50 overs when at one stage a total of well beyond 300 was on the cards.
After 15 overs, Zimbabwe had plunderd 104 for the loss of just one wicket thanks to Kevin Kasuza who top scored with a breezy 52 not out before having to retire to join the national squad in training.
But after that, the innings lost momentum as one batsmen after another got a start but then threw his wicket away.
Dubai however never looked like getting close to the total on a seemingly flat pitch as they lost wickets at crucial periods and were eventually bundled out for 106 with more than 15 overs to spare.
Zimbabwe outclassed Dubai in the first two matches over the weekend when they crushed the visitors by an emphatic 216 runs on Saturday and then followed it up by cruising to a comfortable six wicket win on Sunday before wrapping up the series on Wednesday.
The two teams meet in a T20 match at the Interfin High Performance Centre on Wednesday before playing the fourth and final game at the same venue on Thursday June the 7th. The T20 game starts at 1pm while the final 50 over encounter gets underway at 09300 hours.
