Mashonaland Eagles won the toss on Tuesday morning and opted to bat, in their Logan Cup match against hosts Mountaineers, at the Mutare Sports Club.
They were dismissed for 343 runs, with Chamunorwa Chibhabha (62) top-scoring. Mark Mbofana chipped in with 59 runs and Stuart Matsikenyeri 54.
For Mountaineers, Shingirai Masakadza took three wickets for 99 runs in 22 overs, Natsai M’shangwe three for 114 in 23, Tendai Chatara two for 86 in 24.1 and Donald Tiripano two for 43 in 14.
At stumps today, Mountaineers were on 355 for eight. Zimbabwe A captain Tinotenda Mawoyo continued with his good domestic form, putting up 130 of those runs from 220 balls – 19 of them fours – before he was bowled by Kudakwashe Munyede. Other notable performers included Timycen Maruma with 86 runs and former Zimbabwe under-19 vice-captain Kevin Kasuza an unbeaten 56.
Innocent Chinyoka picked up four wickets for 52 runs in the 21 overs he bowled today.
Mountaineers lead by 12 runs with two wickets remaining in their first innings.
