At the Queens Sports Club, Bulawayo, 12 May 2013
Result: Bangladesh 168 for 7 (Tamim 43, Shakib 40) beat Zimbabwe 134 for 9 (S.R. Butt 32, Sibanda 32; Shakib 4/22) by 34 runs.
An outstanding all-round performance by Shakib Al Hasan ended Bangladesh's tour on a happy note, as the Tigers recorded a 34-run win against Zimbabwe, in their second and final Teletalk 3G Twenty20 International match on Sunday.
Bangladesh won the toss at the Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo and elected to bat. Despite the early loss of Shamsur Rahman, they got off to a flying start – taking full advantage of the wayward bowling by the Zimbabwean seamers, as they raced to 100 in the 10th over: thanks to a partnership of 84 between Tamim Iqbal (43) and man of the series Shakib Al Hasan (40).
After the dismissal of the two, it became a procession and Bangladesh finished on 168 runs for seven wickets in their allotted 20 overs.
Prosper Utseya was outstanding and comfortably the pick of the bowlers, ending with figures of two for 15 in his four overs of intelligent off-spin.
After their two successful chases in the One-Day International series, the Zimbabwe players should have been in a positive frame of mind, and should have felt that they were in with a real chance of recording a white-wash after Saturday's win, but, it was not to be.
Hamilton Masakadza played an awful shot to be dismissed without scoring, while Brendan Taylor (15) and Vusimuzi Sibanda (32) both lost their wickets playing rash shots.
After the top three had been dismissed, Bangladesh – and in particular Shakib – dictated terms as Zimbabwe rapidly fell behind the required run-rate.
Sikandar Raza Butt tried his best to up the run-rate, but when he was bowled by Shakib for 32, which included two enormous sixes, the writing was on the wall.
Shakib mopped up the tail to finish with impressive figures of four for 22 from his four overs, subsequently earning him the man of the match, as Zimbabwe finished on 134 for nine – 34 runs short of Bangladesh's total.
The former Bangladesh captain was also chosen as the player of the T20I series.
