Zimbabwe Cricket (ZC) held its annual general meeting in Harare today, in terms of its constitution.
The delegates considered and adopted the chairman’s annual report and the 2012 audited financial statement.
The delegates also noted that the country’s 10 provincial cricket associations will be empowered with effect from the first of September 2013, to administer more effectively the development programmes and club cricket in their respective provinces.
This will relieve the franchises and leave them to concentrate on their mandate, which is First Class domestic cricket.
Each provincial cricket association will have an area manager dedicated to it, and under the area manager will be development coaches. These positions will be funded and resourced directly by ZC.
This clear separation of roles and responsibilities will enhance the development thrust in each provincial association.
The annual general meeting reappointed the ZC Patron, who has traditionally been the Head of State.
