India Under-19s won by 148 runs.
Hosts India won the toss and elected to bat, in the second match of the Quadrangular Under-19 Series in Visakhapatnam.
The match was Zimbabwe’s first of the tournament.
The India Under-19s had a slow start as Zimbabwe continuously got wickets, led by Kieran Geyle who finished with three wickets for 32 runs in 10 overs. Vice-captain Luke Jongwe picked up two for 59 in nine overs.
However, the last five overs were expensive, going for 66 runs as India opened up to consolidate their total. They ended on 291 runs for six wickets in their allotted 50 overs.
Zimbabwe also got off to a slow start, playing cautiously and so keeping their wickets.
However,when India brought in their spinners, Zimbabwe collapsed for 143 in 41.2 overs.
Ryan Burl top-scored for Zimbabwe with 46 runs before he was bowled by Aamir Gani. The next best with the bat was debutant Dylan Nel, who put up 22 runs before he was caught by Gani from the bowling of Kuldeep Yadav who was the pick of the India Under-19 bowlers, retaining figures of four wickets for 34 runs in 10 overs.
The Zimbabwe Under-19 plays Australia Under-19 in their second match of the tournament on Wednesday.
