Zimbabwe under-19 batsman Nicholas Welch led hosts Country Club to victory over Masvingo Sports Club, in their National League final on Sunday the 15th of June.
Chasing 148 runs, Country Club reached the target in 29 overs, thanks to 49 runs from Welch. That top-score came off 34 balls,six of them fours, before the teenager was caught by Hillary Matanga from the bowling of his former under-19 team-mate Luke Jongwe.
Tonny Mupariwa added 27 runs and Clement Rizhibhowa 17 to help the hosts to victory.
Matanga was the pick of the Masvingo bowling, finishing with four wickets for 50 runs in nine overs. Cornelius Munyanyiwa got three for 38 in 10 overs, while Jongwe claimed one.
Sent in to bat, Masvingo had been dismissed for 147 runs in 44.1 overs. Lungile Ndlovu top-scored with 36 runs and Zimbabwe international Richmond Mutumbami added 35 and Matanga 30.
For Country Club, Calum Price took three wickets for 40 runs in 10 overs, while Gary Chirimuta, Kyle Hopper and Malcolm Waller had two each.
