Zimbabwe vs Bangladesh Day 3

Saturday, 06 August 2011 05:27 Published in Match Reports

Castle Test, Day 3 in Harare: Zimbabwe 92 for 4 (Sibanda 38, Shakib 1-9) & 370 lead Bangladesh 287 (Ashraful 73, Shakib 68, Vitori 4-66) by 175 runs.

Staring victory in the face, Zimbabwe faltered somewhat in the last hour of a day where they had held slightly the upper hand throughout until then.  Bangladesh, although bolstered by a fine 68 from Shakib Al Hasan, were unable to put together a major partnership against the Zimbabwe bowling, and fell behind by 83 runs on first innings.

Thursday, 04 August 2011 05:11 Published in Match Reports

Castle Test, Day 1 in Harare: Zimbabwe 264 for 2 (Masakadza 88*, Taylor 40* Hossain 2-58) v Bangladesh

History repeated itself at Harare Sports Club today. In Zimbabwe’s inaugural Test match, nineteen years ago, they surprised the cricket world (or the part of it that showed any interest in them) by their fine batting against India, beginning with a century partnership for the first wicket and finishing the day at 188 for three; they eventually batted into the third day and had much the better of a draw.
