The first match of the second day held particular interest as it was contested by the two winning teams of the first day, both teams well capable of winning the tournament.

This was another one-sided match with the team batting second winning easily. Mashonaland Eagles batted poorly, and good batting by Paul Horton and Charles Coventry took Matabeleland Tuskers home with more than three overs to spare.

The opening match of the series failed to excite the crowd, as Mid-West Rhinos failed to produce a competitive total and Mountaineers were never stretched as they recorded a straight-forward victory by six wickets.

The Chairman of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 Local Organising Committee, James Strong, has announced that John Harnden has been appointed Chief Executive Officer of the Local Organising Committee for the event.
